Stellar Storage Containers started in 2006 (under the name Universal Storage Containers - USC) by revolutionizing the self-storage industry with the introduction of Z-Box Technology, the folding storage container design that allows for unmatched 30-minute assembly as well as dramatically reducing cost in both assembly time as well as shipping. This innovation and the lowered costs allowed customers to gain a competitive edge in their markets and was responsible for launching the portable storage container category as we know it today.

Soon, the company brought their container products to the international market changing the self-storage industry around the world. Starting in 2011, Stellar's Z-Box containers won the prestigious ISS International Best Of Business Award for the best self-storage container, an award they have won every year since, as well.

Over time, Stellar has continued to leverage new technologies, new materials and new manufacturing techniques thanks to a dedicated team of specialized engineers, something nobody else in the industry can boast. NEXT GENERATION LEADERSHIP
In 2025, as the next generation of ownership takes over the business, Universal Storage Containers has become the parent company while Stellar becomes the customer-facing brand. This, for two key reasons. First, our containers are better engineered and "built stronger to last longer" and we believe "Stellar" better represents this premise. But also because we have incorporated much of the technology from our storage containers into an exciting new lineup of portable shelters called "UpLift", a brand that will also live under the Universal umbrella but that needs its own identity.
